KAWARI-NURI > NEGORO-NURI
Today, Negoro-nuri is called either "modern" Negoro-nuri
or "Ko"(old) Negoronuri, which purposely imitate the
genuine Negoro-nuri that has aged to the point that the black
Urushi has appeared from under the red Urushi. There is also Akebono-nuri,
which is the look of black Urushi surface and red Urushi reappears
after it is worn out. The "modern" Negoro-nuri and "modern"
Akebono-nuri are all finished in Riro-migaki, burnished to bring
out the luster of the Urushi. Since this is a Nuri (painting)
work, a Nu-shi like Nakakado-san specializes in this Nuri.
